The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge

The event is an annual international competition focused on the principles of innovation and sustainability. Participating teams aim to develop new technologies, explore new materials and shape alternative propulsion systems while maintaining peak performance, the criterion for participation in the event.

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge aims to accelerate the energy transition in the nautical world. For this, the Yacht Club of Monaco brings together the biggest players in the sector to exchange in one place: companies and numerous student teams come together united by the same wish: to make the oceans greener.

The competition has 3 classes :

  • Energy Class
  • Solar Class
  • Open sea Class

Our catamaran participate in the Energy class, made of 4 race:

  1. Championship : race 1 against 1, with direct elimination;
  1. Endurance : 4 hour race, the goal is to go as far as possible with only 10kwh of energy stored;
  1. Slalom : competition determined by completing a course as quickly as possible;
  1. Speed record : Race intended to establish our maximum speed in a length of 1 nautical mile.

2021

Team creation
Created as part of the official courses at ENSTA Paris as a project management application for students (course called PIE). Only 6 months to develop a boat that can sail, difficult.

2022

Support from Mike Horn, a real boost of motivation.

2023

Use of a revolutionary Arkema resin, not yet commercialized, 100% recyclable and reusable – a world first. Reorganization of the team's functioning.

Interesting results:
3rd in qualifications;
Instant speed record at 14kn;
1st French team, 8th place overall.

2024

Turning point for the team: transition to association of law 1901
First participation as an association under the name Taméo. Collaboration with the DGA (general directorate of armaments) and Naval Group for the first integration of artificial intelligence on board. Creation of the sustainable mobility center at ENSTA Paris.

Following the development of AI, our next goal is to launch a fully autonomous platform by 2027 to participate in new competitions.
